Voice Visualization for Narrative/Game

One component of my “Prison Industrial Complex: A Game” project regards a visualization for the narrator. I am designing an aesthetic influenced by minimalism and bauhaus. Belize . So the visual graph representing the audio of a narrator is a series lines vertically extending downward.

I am using an object in Max, [fffb~], that is simply a bandpass filter with an argument that defines the amount of filter banks. From there I take the amplitude of twelve banks and I compensate for the DC offset by creating an if statement that multiplies the signal by -1.0 if the signal falls below 0. As a result the signal is always positive which allows me to control the data for my Processing visualization.
