Using a collection of haikus written over the span of several years, “Generative Haiku” presents an audio-visual collage of sound, words, and images. Built in the technology, Max/MSP, it aims to show a relationship between metaphor, field recordings, and randomized compositions.

As the user activates the software, you are presented with aleotoric, musical events, a visual bouquet, and a randomized arrangement of haiku fragments. It aims to draw a line between the mediums and audio-visual experiences.

The project was comissioned by Cycling ’74, the creators of the technology, Max/MSP.
